I'm thinking it might also be cool to incorporate a commercial kitchen that could then be lent out for food processing. It would also be a good place to have a tool & equipment co-op for things like dehydrator, cider press, rototiller, post hole digger, & other things that make sense to share among food growers. -David

Colleen - look in the lower right of either of the overhead drawings - its a little hard to make out, but it says earth matters gardens. THere will be no impact on the EM gardens and strawbale house except to hopefully attract more visitors by not having it hidden behind bulky marketplace buildings.

I am not seeing the Strawbale house in the drawings, maybe because it is not emcompassing that area? Could you let me know if this plan will diminish any of the Earth Matters medicinal herb gardens? I only see mention of the frienship gardens. Thank you!

Brenda - yes, we will be looking to reincorporate as much of the material as possible. For some of those enormous posts, we may be looking at remilling them. In general, I am hoping to use the most sustainable design possible.

Cathi - great suggestion regarding the parking. I was thinking that would be ideal parking for vendors to unload and then for the public. We need every space for customers, because the market is going to be jamming next year. What about those 4-5 in curbs that you see everywhere? Not fool proof, I suppose, but a start. I'll ask around. I think yes, the tarp idea is a good one - it provides fliexbility and weather resistance at the same time.

Photo #1 shows vehicles parked behind the booths. Are these vendor vehicles or public parking. If it is public, we would need some sort of cement barrier protecting us from "errors' in driving, ie, pushing gas instead of break, but of course if there is a cement barrier, it would make it really difficult for vendors to unpack, so, I'm assuming we as vendors would back up to these booths and leave our vehicle there?? Will there be removeable "tarp" backing and dividers, maybe ties or velcro that would be put up and removed each week?, for ease of setting up the booth for sales, or for example for someone wishing to have 2 booths but not wanting a devider between them. Will this make it easier for the police to see through to the park to keep vandalism in check? Is there somewhere in there another set of washrooms, maybe even with baby change tables?, the washroom at the market now is pretty rustic, but I can see not wanting to spend to much on an restroom that will be vandalized. I am a supporter of the market, how it is, with a few improvements, but I am not opposed to change either! Cathi

And I hope you are considering reusing some of the existing materials to rebuild.

I like the market as described in pictures 1 and 2. As long as there is covered space available for the vendors you have my thumbs up. It does the job for sure.
