Title: Operations Manager

Start Date: May 1st, 2022 or as soon as possible

Terms: $47,000-$52,000 annual salary (prorated), 20-30 hours/week, permanent

West Kootenay EcoSociety is a non-profit community-driven organization that brings together local residents to protect the natural environment while building just, equitable, healthy, and livable communities. EcoSociety is at a pivotal moment in its development and is seeking an Operations Manager to support the organization’s capacity to administer programs, manage human resources, manage finances, and  help us reach our annual and long-term program goals.

EcoSociety is a Living Wage Employer. Currently, this is a work from home position, and a quiet space to work is required. Employment benefits include:

  • 4 weeks paid vacation (prorated), with flexibility around dates to accommodate staff needs
  • Work from home $50/month allowance (reimbursement) and paid 30 mins daily exercise (prorated), while offices closed due to COVID
  • Supply technology needs for work from home, as required

Job Description:

The Operations Manager will plan and oversee the daily operations of the organization to ensure goals and objectives are being achieved, reporting to the Executive Director. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist with grant tracking and reporting 
  • Manage wage subsidy applications and reporting
  • Implement and manage internal systems, revising them as necessary or needed
  • Lead organizational database management and development
  • Onboard new employees, including training staff with EcoSociety’s database, website, other internal technology, policies and procedures,
  • Oversee HR processes in concert with Senior Management Team
  • Ensure the organizational policies are being implemented and adhered to by staff, board, and volunteers
  • Lead administration and office management
  • Analyzing and problem solve operational issues as they arise
  • Take part in related communities of practice and share learnings
  • Organize and maintain EcoSociety digital files
  • Organize internal and external events
  • Manage staff and volunteers 

Qualifications:

  • At least two years experience with a company or non-profit organization(s) successfully leading or supporting operations, administration, human resources, finances or related. We prefer candidates with experience working in environmental or social justice sectors
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Experience using CRMs, CiviCRM experience prefered 
  • VERY strong attention to details and numbers is required
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and problem solve independently
  • Experience working in diverse teams and a strong desire to practice justice, equity, diversity and inclusion 
  • High energy, attention to detail, positive, and solutions-oriented attitude
  • Passion for working to fulfill EcoSociety’s mission and values and promote EcoSociety’s work
  • Suitable home office: comfortable working on a computer full time; expert-Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, GSuite, email management, WordPress, Zoom, Google Meet, and related operations organizing software 
  • Candidates with experience practicing engagement organizing or community organizing preferred

The successful candidate ideally lives in the West Kootenay region, however candidates from other regions in BC and Canada, particularly those with lived experience in rural and small town communities, are encouraged to apply and will be considered. If the successful candidate lives outside the West Kootenay region, they may be required to relocate to the region once EcoSociety re-opens community offices. However, preference will be given to experience and skills over the current residential location of candidates.
